Water Guidance, Research & Consultancy

Established in 2016, AQASS is a specialist consultancy and research company. Our core team has over 40 years’ experience in water environments and related data analysis and management. AQASS benefits from academic, commercial and conservation experience and team members hold Visiting Researcher status at the Russel Group University of Southampton (UK). This brings research led robustness towards well informed decisions in aquatic system and water management, enhancement and care.

We provide high level advice towards optimisation of opportunities for policy, industry and conservation. With experience in the UK and EU, Eastern Europe, Middle East, Far East, and Africa we provide sound advice to project, habitat and data managers and related stakeholders. Our goal is to achieve pragmatic conservation minded management of aquatic systems backed by sound research knowledge, data collection and management.

Team members have commercial experience and research interests in:

  • Water resource management and sustainability;
  • Aquatic pollution, research, management and policy input;
  • Biofouling, ballast water invasive species management and vessel impact management;
  • Sustainable ports and shipping;
  • Human infrastructure as novel habitats and habitat restoration for biodiversity/richness;
  • Geospatial (GIS) analysis and web development for data dissemination;
  • Remote technologies, remote data collection and internet of things;
  • Input and guidance to EIA technical aspects;
  • Survey design, management and analysis.

We are UK research active, co-supervising a PhD at the University of Portsmouth (UK) and previous PhD supervision at the University of Southampton (UK) plus requested grant and paper reviews. We also have established links in South Africa with the Centre for Ocean Science & Food Security at Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, the Centre for Geographical Analysis at Stellenbosch University, as well as the Department of Water & Sanitation.
